Joana Cifre-Cerda

Joana is  a multidisciplinary artist with a focus in Live Art and Drawing . Her practice is  rooted in contemplation, absurdity, clowning, improvisation, ritual and the joy of mark-making. For Joana Art, specially, Performance is a tool that helps her understand the world differently and with which she can practice and suggest alternative ways of being and living. 

Themes range from the existential to the ecological. She wonders about who do we call audience, and whether a human audience is always necessary. The climate crisis, and social injustice increasingly influence her work, in response,  she has been reshaping her  practice to tread lighter, paring down, simplifying and returning to the body as main material, rethinking documentation, and exploring intimate, low-impact ways of sharing and disseminating the work like spoken word and letter writing.
