For everyone who has stayed with us at Live Art Ireland, you’ll know that cooking a meal for the house is part of the rhythm of being here. Over the years, those meals have become some of the most memorable moments of artists’ time with us: gathering around the table, sharing food, sharing stories, learning a little more about one another through what we choose to cook.
We’d like to gather these meals into a cookbook; a living, evolving record of the artists who have passed through Live Art Ireland, and the dishes they brought to the table.
The cookbook will be a sharing of artists as much as a sharing of recipes. There will be no photographs of food. Instead, the images will be of the artists themselves and of their practice. The recipes will sit alongside the work and the lives of the people who made them, so that turning the pages feels like meeting the artist, not browsing a menu.
We love the thought that, in future, a new artist arriving at Live Art Ireland might open the book, choose a recipe, and spend the afternoon cooking a meal first made here by someone they’ve never met: reading their bio, looking at their work, learning a little about them as the kitchen fills with the smell of their food. A quiet, beautiful kind of connection: artist to artist, through the act of cooking.
If you’ve stayed with us and cooked a meal during your time here, we’d love you to be part of this. Please send us:
