BIO I was born in Belfast and I currently live and work on the North East coast of Ireland, where I have been active in areas of performance, community art and art education from 2004. In my capacity as a performance artist and member of the Belfast performance organisation Bbeyond, I have formulated and collated subjective research over a period of 20 years. I am a multidisciplinary artist and interested in socio-cultural systems and theoretical psychologies which are specific to trauma, loss and recovery. Borne from live art action, my work is predominately driven by reflective, meditative practices that incorporate aspects of self-care within a daily workflow.
STATEMENT Exploring a myriad of encounters, reflections and embodied responses to site, architecture and rural landscape. My semi autobiographic practice is situated within the context of storytelling and memoir, relating to the value and the very nature of creativity. Using a wide ranging, cross-disciplinary approach, my intentions are to distil aesthetic ideas into autonomous works, that can function independently and outside of the expected performer-audience paradigm. Integrating elements of sculptural textile alongside visual /audio material, I invite the viewer to engage with both a remembered past and the sensory present.
