Magda Garre is a versatile singer ,songwriter and an interdisciplinary artist from Barcelona, actively performing and collaborating in various musical projects across the city’s diverse scenes. Her artistic expression spans from vocal improvisation, folk and sound art.
Her work and vision involves both research and a search for experimental expression through ritual, synchronicity and memory and its revisited ways, from a careful look that involves exploration, leading projects towards a transdisciplinary and collaborative practice.
“ The first time I visited Live Art Ireland was during the summer of 2024, and I immediately felt compelled to be there, as the house possesses a kind of magic that is hard to articulate, along with a sense of responsibility to engage with it once you become familiar. The residency’s title, “In Between,” perfectly aligned with my timing, allowing me to shape my essential work research: The Rest of the Fire. After you have burned away your home and sense of self, all that remains is a small cyclical fire waiting to be reignited. A pause lingers in grief over what might have been. The house and the interactions with objects, which acted as active participants expressing what my voice yearned for—the cups, the bats, the black veil—guided me toward a tangible action that has been developing throughout my life, manifesting physically during the week spent at Live Art Ireland; capturing the cups that remain still while life offers movement. What keeps the veil motionless? Stillness”
