Solas | Hikari Workshop

Live Art Ireland invites applications to apply for a free two-day workshop culminating in a collective performance at Milford House, North Tipperary. The workshop takes place on 29 and 30 October 2026, with the collective performance on 31 October (Samhain).

The workshop forms part of an international residency running at Live Art Ireland from 12 to 31 October 2026, bringing together eight professional artists: four from Japan and four from Ireland.

Led by Sandra Corrigan Breathnach (Ireland) and Tadashi Watanabe (Japan), the workshop explores themes of inner light, interconnection, and transformative darkness through contemporary performance art practice. Corrigan Breathnach will guide workshop participants through exercises exploring the cyclical nature of life using energy, sound, and natural materials. Watanabe will lead contemplative practices drawing on Buddhist traditions, exploring darkness and silence in interior and exterior environments.

Workshop participants will develop performances alongside the residency artists, with Corrigan Breathnach and Watanabe acting as mentors, before presenting the collective performance on 31 October.

Participation is free, but places are limited. Selection will be made by Deej Fabyc and Sandra Corrigan Breathnach.
