I graduated as a Dramatherapist in 2014 with an MA [Hons 1.1] from Maynooth University, where I also worked as a lecturer and Interim Director of the Dramatherapy programme. I also qualified as a Creative Supervisor to facilitate other therapists’ processes, and I am currently completing my second MA in Transpersonal Therapy through the Spanish School of Transpersonal Psychology, “Escuela de Atención.”
I have also been practicing since 2016 Somatic Embriology and the Discipline of Authentic Movement. I recently completed academic research in Trauma Studies, Postcolonial Literature and Poetry, which will be published soon. I also continue to evolve my own sound and movement performance practice as a way of nurturing myself, and so that I can continue nurturing others.
My approach to therapy is directly informed by over 20 years background in performance practice and research that focused on the connection between body-mind, impulse and action; arts as a vehicle for the exploration and expression of the self. I began my career in Spain, where I was born, and in 1998 I moved to Ireland and cofounded the theatre laboratory nervousytem, which was in operation internationally for 10years. As a performer and facilitator theatre enabled me to get in touch with something beyond the limitations of everyday life, with something closer to the essence of being — to the inside flame that keeps us alive but that at times gets shadowed by the business and responsibilities placed upon us by ourselves and others. This flame to me represents the transpersonal field, where I believe healing can be found.
