You are invited to apply for This residency with a workshoip by renowned artists Marilyn Arsem and Mark Leahy
Deadline: April 12th 2024
workshop with Marilyn Arsem
This workshop examines the significance of time in live performance. Through exercises, participants will explore different ways that time can operate as an active element in their performances. Working with time, against time and through time, we will investigate how actions, sites, objects and ourselves are impacted and altered in extended time. A significant component of the workshop will be private reflection and writing, as well as group discussions on questions related to the topic of time and on durational performance practice. Participants will have an opportunity to create a durational work for public performance during the residency.
Workshop with Mark Leahy
Over two-days in June we will work together to consider how performance is communicated after the fact, across gaps in time and space, to different audiences. What is lost, what do we hold on to, what do we transmit beyond the present moment? Looking at ideas and practices of translation, notation and making scores, we will generate material- visual texts that tell a story of our live-art making. Our actions and thinking will occur in and with awareness of extinction, waste, and the other-than-human.
There will be a fee of €400 to cover some of the costs associated with providing food and facilitation for this workshop
