Vicky is a multidisciplinary artist based in Birmingham. Her practice has a foundation in research, found objects and obscure legend. She tends to develop ideas by making, often creating a body of work as part of this process. Vicky strives to use the best medium for the work and so her practice encompasses embroidery, soft sculpture, resin sculpture, silverwork, food and performance.
She has worked with Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, Multistory, Vivid Projects and Stryx and exhibited at The Herbert Gallery, Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery and New Art Gallery Walsall as part of ACE funded project More Than Human.
It has been incredible – and a brilliant way to start the continuing residency which i will be posting more about over the next couple of weeks.
I was also really happy to be able to let ‘The Gift Horse’s Mouth’ have a day in the sun – it’s one of my favourite pieces but hated how there was no way of presenting it other than as a sterile artefact. Being the Troll, forcing the audience to cast the teeth to determine whether they’d be allowed to trip trap over my bridge, the teeth clattering and scattering brought the work to life in a way i didn’t quite anticipate.’
